Blacksmithing with Mizutani Scissors started in 1921. We were first a sword, and now a scissor manufacturing company.

The Damascus series of the Mizutani Scissors collection, outside of being the top of the line when it comes to quality building material sets the standard for all shears that are made of wootz metal.

We have always been the first to innovate a design. And our team at the factory continues day in and out, to research and develop these tools to our artist community preferences.

The D19 blade is made for durability and a powerful cutting experience. The D17 at a smaller size is made more for precision oriented work.

Design Note:

The shear blade is made entirely of Damascus Steel. Our Damascus (  also know as “ wootz metal ” ) is 32 fold layered iron and steel with charcoal forged in a temperature reduced environment called quenching. This process is what makes for the watermark patterning throughout this masterpiece.
